Is it reasonable that the Parking Industry begins to focus on Mobility and Transportation? Are we losing our way?
All the statistics show that the privately owned vehicle isn’t going away. 85% of the people coming to work in the central city drive, and that percentage hasn’t changed in 70 years. Like it or not, the numbers don’t lie. There will be an increase in the number of vehicles using our infrastructure in the foreseeable future. Is it reasonable to spend planning effort and treasure on the demise of the vehicle, when the numbers show the opposite?
This symposium will bring together planners who project the demise of parking and promote a dense, central city, with those who simply point to the numbers, provided by the Federal Government, that show that the focus for the near and mid term should be on dealing with an increase in parking and infrastructure.
